Survey reveals waste reduction is a key trend this year: According to the latest Product of the Year survey, waste reduction is increasing in importance to consumers when it comes to the products they are buying.Survey reveals waste reduction is a key trends this year

The respondents’ answers revealed that the products votes for were ones which were made to tackle the waste problem in the United Kingdom, with the Energizer Recharge Extreme and Asda Wonky Veg Box coming at the top of the Healthy Food and Household categories.

One of the eye-opening trends in the 2016 list of winners was the unique response to waste management across categories, with Asda’s Wonky Veg Box helping to tackle the food waste problem in the United Kingdom in a cost-effective way. The Wonky Veg box costs 30 per cent less normal vegetables.

Helping to conquer battery waste in the United Kingdom, Energizer’s Recharge Extreme batteries are made from recycled batteries, which enable individuals to choose to make an environmentally friendly purchase.

The Product of the Year survey questioned 11,367 UK shoppers to reveal that waste reduction will be a key trend in stores during 2017 and the next few years. This year is forecasted to be the year of increased consumer awareness of what they are purchasing.

The research also revealed that healthy items, varied pet foods, time-saving personal care items and products that reduce waste all came at the top of the list of innovative products in the consumer market place.

The research participants selected the product winners across 38 FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) categories in the biggest annual consumer-voted aware for product innovation.
