The average British person now consumes fast food two days per week on average; however, this statistic was found to be larger amongst young people with one in eight 21 to 34 year olds and one in six 16 to 20 year olds admitting to eating takeaways at least twice a day.

A total of 5,000 people took part in the survey to discover that the average adult now consumes meat at least twice a day and eats only six vegetarian meals in a month.

When looking at how much meat the different genders consume, the survey revealed that 21 per cent of males and 32 per cent of males aged between 16 and 21 eat meat at least three times per day.

Whilst 50 per cent of the UK feels that a meal is not a proper meal without meat, the same percentage revealed that they do not know what the recommended maximum of red meat is that they should consume. The Department of Health’s guidelines suggest that one should not eat more than 70g of red meat per day.
