Take Part in Paid Market Research

In order to register with us you must be aged 16 or over and be willing to tell us a bit about yourself. If you would like to take part in market research, you can sign up to our DJS Research Insight Panel.

Becoming a panel member simply means that we have your permission to contact you with a view to participating in market research projects conducted by DJS Research Ltd. We continuously invite respondents to take part in a number of consumer and business to business research projects, including for example:

  • Focus groups or depth interviews
  • Telephone interviews
  • Online surveys
  • In-home interviews

Some of our projects will give you the opportunity to earn money for your opinions with paid market research (either cash, vouchers or entries into prize draws).

Our work is purely for market research purposes and has nothing to do with sales.

Membership and involvement in projects is completely free of charge and you will be protected by the Market Research Society Code of Conduct and the Data Protection Act (registered number: Z1091106) - at no time will your details be released to any third parties without your permission. Once you are registered with us you will receive news about upcoming research projects (usually by email or phone).

There will be no obligation to take part, the choice will be yours. It is also worth noting that we cannot guarantee that we will contact you on a frequent basis.

FAQs

What is a focus group?

A focus group (sometimes also called a discussion group) brings together a group of people (usually 8-10) who are then encouraged to discuss and debate a specific topic. Focus groups are led by a moderator who will ask questions and encourage people to share their views, feedback and experiences with the wider group.

What will I be required to do?

You will be required to give your feedback and opinions about the particular topic that the group is focusing on. Focus groups can be looking to find out more about a wide range of subjects – from the brands that you buy in the supermarket (and why you buy them!) to things you like to do in your spare time, or the type of holidays you take.

The group is usually very informal and friendly and we are just interested in your thoughts and opinions – there are no right or wrong answers!

We do need people to participate however, and so we want people to open up and offer their feedback on the topic discussion.

How long will it take?

A typical focus group with usually take 1 ½ - 2 hours, although it can be longer or shorter depending on what the topic is and what the client requires, but you will be informed of the exact times when you are first recruited and agree to take part.

What other types of research might I get asked to participate in?

As well as focus groups we also recruit people to take part in one to one interviews which may be on the phone or face to face and also online research. The methodology of the particular project we are recruiting for will clearly be explained to you at the recruitment stage, so you can decide whether it is something you would like to do or not.

Will I receive something for my time?

As a thank you for your time and also for offering your views and opinions you will receive an incentive, which is usually paid in cash on the day of the research if you are taking part in a focus group. For other types of research we may send out a cheque or high street vouchers to you in the post.

When you are asked to take part in the research you will be informed of the amount and type of incentive that you will receive.

What is the research used for?

The feedback that you provide in focus groups and other forms of research is used by our clients to inform them about the goods and services they provide. It helps them to make informed decisions about the future of their current products and services, and also about brand new products.

All the information you give will be kept completely confidential. DJS Research is a Market Research Society Company partner, and we adhere to the MRS Code of Conduct. This guarantees that you won’t be identified and all your feedback will remain confidential and will only be used for the purpose of the research.

Sometimes we may need to audio or video record the research. This is only necessary for the analysis stage of the research, and will not be used for any other purpose in  most cases. If recordings are going to be used, this will be made clear to you in advance.

Who are your clients?

Our clients are many and varied! They range from big multi companies to small consultancies. They will often be household names. Sometimes we are able to reveal who the client is at the recruitment stage and other times it is necessary for our client to remain anonymous so that the feedback is not biased. In this case we are often able to reveal the client at the end of the research.

How often will I be able to take part in research?

In order to get the views of a wide cross section of people we prefer not to have people to take part in market research projects more than twice a year, depending on the nature of the research.

How will you contact me? What happens now?

Once you have completed the profiling questionnaire and given us your details and permission to contact you, we will hold this information securely and we will be in touch with details of future projects you might be interested in taking part in. This will usually be by email, so please check your in box regularly, however sometimes we may phone you.

If you do want to take part in a particular project then please let us know (usually by replying to an email). We will then contact you to go through the criteria in a bit more detail, and unfortunately not everybody will be eligible to take part in every research project, as there are different criteria specified by our clients for each project.
