Brief - Market Research

In market research, a brief is a basic set of specifications about what a particular research project is hoping to achieve and what business problems the research seeks to solve. Briefs are usually given to a market research agency by the client, although sometimes an agency might assist the client organisation in putting together aspects of it.

Briefs vary in nature - some specify a methodology and the proposed research process is very clear and set in stone; others simply explain what the research is trying to achieve and encourages agencies to come up with the most effective way of achieving results which would meet the requirements.
