Traditional festive feasts of roast turkey, stuffing, Brussels sprouts and granny's roast potatoes could be on their way out – Britons are increasingly choosing more experimental, celebrity inspired dishes from the UK’s top rated chefs this Christmas.

The latest survey by vouchercodes.co.uk has revealed that almost half of British households (47%) will be forgoing the time-old festive spread this year, to opt instead for suave recipes from cookbooks written by high-profile chefs.

Jamie Oliver was crowned as the most popular celebrity Christmas chef for 2012 by surveyants, with 32% of the overall vote.

He was followed by Nigella Lawson (21%), Delia Smith (19%) and Gordon Ramsay (12%), with the Top Five round out by those bravely attempting to recreate the offerings of molecular gastronomy chef Heston Blumenthal (8%).

Co-founder of VoucherCodes.co.uk, Duncan Jennings, commented on this rising trend: “Celebrity chefs are very much part of Christmas these days whether we're following their recipes or buying their ranges at the supermarket.”

He added: “If you are struggling for festive food inspiration, there are lots of great deals on celebrity chef books at this time of year.”
