A survey of 18,000 UK car owners by JD Power and What Car? Magazine has found Jaguar crowned top of the list for cars that Britons are most satisfied with.

Editor-in-chief of What Car?, Chas Hallett, commented: “This study shows that customers are really satisfied with their Jaguars - a hugely important feat for any car maker."

The market research covering adults with an average of two years ownership also saw Lexus cars fall from first position for the first time in 11 years.

Lexus finished joint second along with Skoda, and was then consecutively followed by Honda, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota.

In contrast, Chevrolet came last and Vauxhall was second-bottom on the satisfaction rating  which spanned 27 car manufacturers.

When it came to the table measuring individual models (covering 118 cars), Britons voted the Jaguar XF in second place and the Kia Sportage first.

The Toyota Prius ranked in third position, followed by the Skoda Superb and Mercedes-Benz E-class. Meanwhile, the Vauxhall Vectra was voted last for consumer satisfaction, with the Nissan Pixo next-to-bottom.
