RAC has revealed the UK’s biggest driver frustrations in 2023: A recent RAC report has revealed the biggest driver frustrations, with 49% of the UK public being dissatisfied with the road conditions in the UK, making it the top motoring concern in the UK in 2023.
The survey was conducted by the RAC and highlights the issues UK drivers face when driving around the United Kingdom. The greatest frustrations were found to be around insufficient road maintenance and poor road conditions across the country. The research lists 19 concerns, most of which have stayed consistent over the past year.
Further findings highlight that the second most common concern is soaring diesel and petrol prices, with 42% of motorists identifying it as a major concern. However, this is a 7% decrease compared to last year, showing this distress is not as widespread as it previously was. Additionally, 31% of UK motorists said that the other drivers on the roads were the most pressing concern, making it the 3rd most popular frustration.
Potholes:
There has been an increase of 7% in people who have stated that the conditions of their local roads have worsened over the past year, putting the figure at 67%. As well as that, the research also revealed that 81% of drivers have had to take evasive action to avoid potholes in the road, with 69% of drivers reporting that they have had to slow down suddenly to miss them. Over a third (35%) of UK drivers have previously had to swerve onto the other side of the road, making potholes even more of a concern than before.
A final notable point is that only 1 in 5 drivers have concerns over the behaviour of cyclists when sharing the road with them.
