Market Research Shows the UKs Most Desirable Companies to Work For

The latest survey of more than 2,133 UK adults by YouGov on behalf of Croner has revealed the top rated companies to work for in Britain.

When respondents were asked: "If you could work for any company which one would it be?”, search giant Google received the highest votes with 81 mentions. followed by Apple at a close second with 80 mentions.

Further attractive UK employers were John Lewis (72 mentions), Virgin (62 mentions) and the BBC (55 mentions).

When asked what makes a good employer, the surveyants rated a good working environment highest at 82%, followed by good pay & benefits (81%), career development (65%) and training & development opportunities (69%).

In addition, 76% of all age groups who took part in the market research said it is important that an employer offers a good work-life balance.

This was followed by good leadership (47%), good culture & strong company values (41%), and a culture of innovation (27%).

Interestingly, only 11% think a great brand makes a good company, although men think this is more important than women (14% versus 8%).

Andy Hague, Croner's Managing Director, commented: "Our survey does reveal that over 40% of adults believe that a great working culture and strong values make a good business, and these have been shown to provide a great source of competitive advantage in business.”
