New survey reveals that tech advances are not having a large impact on people of the UK: A new survey by CIPD has found that tech advances are not having a large impact on people in the UK, with only 55% of HR professionals agreeing that advancing technology is transforming the way their team operates.
CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) conducted the research and gathered these statistics using their annual People Profession report. The survey involved over 1600 HR professionals from the United Kingdom and Ireland, asking them many questions on multiple topics, such as mental health and technology. The survey also involved over 1000 people from other countries across the world.
Further findings highlighted that the impact of digital transformation is higher for HR functions in large businesses (63%), compared to small/medium-sized ones (47%). As well at that, 46% of UK and Ireland-based HR professionals agreed that the way their HR function operates is up-to-date, reviewed regularly and has seen significant updates.
Personal Wellbeing
When asked about personal well-being and mental health in the workplace, the survey reveals improvements since last year for HR professionals. Thirty-four percent of HR professionals in the UK said work has positively impacted their mental health, compared to 27% in 2022. Ireland also saw an increase (24%), with the figure rising to 44% for Irish professionals.
However, 41% of HR professionals said supporting their colleagues’ mental health has become more difficult because of hybrid working, which is now very popular among many workplaces.
