UK and EU flag mixed togetherBrexit has completely failed for the UK according to the majority of Brits: A recent poll has found that Brexit has completely failed for the UK according to the majority of the British public, with just 22% of respondents believing that leaving the EU has had a good impact on the UK in general. Almost 50% believed that it has had a bad impact.

The poll was conducted by Opinium to mark the third anniversary of the UK leaving the EU single market and customs unions. Opinium asked 2,132 UK voters whether they thought Brexit has had a good or bad impact on the UK, including the impact on the UK economy, the environment, personal finances and more.

Findings revealed that over half of the respondents believe Brexit has had a negative impact on the UK economy, the ability of the UK to control immigration, the ability of UK companies to import goods from the EU and prices in shops. There wasn’t a single category where the votes for “good impact” outweighed the votes for “bad impact”.

When asked about the NHS, less than 10% of the poll’s respondents said Brexit has had a good impact on the NHS, with 47% of voters believing it has impacted the NHS negatively.

The research by Opinium also found very low numbers of people who believe that Brexit has benefited them personally. Just 1 in 10 believe leaving the European Union has helped their financial situation, with 35% saying it has been bad for their finances.

James Crouch, head of policy and public affairs at Opinium, said: “Public discontent at how Brexit has been handled by the government continues, with perceived failings even in areas previously seen as a potential benefit from leaving the EU.”
