Survey reveals the tech which is transforming the construction sector: A survey of construction industry professionals has shone a light on the technology which continues to transform the sector, as well as the software solutions which companies are looking towards in the next 6- 12 months.

The survey by the Access Group polled 1,300 construction industry experts, asking them about the types of software they are currently using, with 65% using estimating and pricing software and almost three in five (58%) using dedicated HR and Payroll software. Just over half the respondents polled (52%) reported using dedicated financial management software, with 27% using CRM. Just one in 10 said they use site management software (10%), while 9% said they are using ERP software.

The report highlights that the construction industry can be slow to adopt technology which will speed up and simplfy processes, with many businesses currently reliant on Excel spreadsheets and outdated and inefficient software.

Asked about the top three software solutions they would be looking to introduce in the next 6 -12 months, respondents highlighted estimating and pricing software as the leading interest, with training and e-learning software ranking second. Also ranking highly was ERP Software to increase the visibility of the fully supply chain, in third position.

Respondents were asked to rank the software functionality which would be most beneficial to their businesses, with the most sought-after qualities revealed to be:

1.  Easy of use – is simple to learn and adapt to
2.  Security – capable of protecting sensitive data
3.  Seamless product integration – works well with existing systems.
