30% of companies struggled to hire software engineers, data scientists and DevOps professionals in Q3: A survey of senior technology professionals has found that 30% of the companies polled in the third quarter of 2022 have struggled to hire software engineers, data scientists and DevOps professionals.

According to the research, almost a third of key software roles are not being filled because of hiring pressures and market shortages.

The survey by coding platforms CoderPad and CodinGame polled 3,400 senior tech professionals, also finding that a fifth of companies have made redundancies involving employees in their tech teams during Q3 (21%).

However, the survey also found that almost half of the respondents polled (49%) said their organisation employed 'several people' onto their tech teams during Q3. This suggests that even though roles are being filled, employers are struggling to meet the demand for skilled software professionals.

It had been predicted In an earlier survey from CoderPad and CodinGame that tech recruiters would face challenges in 2022 when it came to hiring skilled staff, particularly in filling roles for full-stack engineers, software architects and machine-learning specialists.
