Survey Crowns Top UK Celebrity Christmas Chefs

Traditional festive feasts of roast turkey, stuffing, Brussels sprouts and granny's roast potatoes could be on their way out – Britons are increasingly choosing more experimental, celebrity inspired dishes from the UK’s top rated chefs this Christmas.

The latest survey by has revealed that almost half of British households (47%) will be forgoing the time-old festive spread this year, to opt instead for suave recipes from cookbooks written by high-profile chefs.

Jamie Oliver was crowned as the most popular celebrity Christmas chef for 2012 by surveyants, with 32% of the overall vote.  

He was followed by Nigella Lawson (21%), Delia Smith (19%) and Gordon Ramsay (12%), with the Top Five round out by those bravely attempting to recreate the offerings of molecular gastronomy chef Heston Blumenthal (8%).

Co-founder of, Duncan Jennings, commented on this rising trend: “Celebrity chefs are very much part of Christmas these days whether we're following their recipes or buying their ranges at the supermarket.”

He added: “If you are struggling for festive food inspiration, there are lots of great deals on celebrity chef books at this time of year.”
