A new survey has found that almost two-thirds of people are comfortable with using healthcare settings that use AI: A new survey by Global Data has found that almost two-thirds of people are comfortable with the use of AI (artificial intelligence) in a healthcare setting, but only if they are familiar with the technology in use.
Global Data conducted the survey to look at AI in clinical practice. The research involved over 500 people from the USA, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, India and the UK. All the patients surveyed had been diagnosed with conditions such as cancer and diabetes.
Further findings also revealed that 60% of patients who were familiar with AI are very comfortable or comfortable with attending an AI-enabled healthcare setting. However, when the patients were not familiar with AI technology, the comfort level dropped to a low 7% of patients.
The survey by Global Data was also able to reveal that 18-55-year-olds were more likely to be familiar with AI technology than those over 56 years old. Fifty percent of 18-55-year-olds stated that their knowledge is moderate or very familiar.
Speaking on AI and the survey results, senior director of market research at Global Data, Urte Jakimaviciute said: “Together with the development of a robust regulatory framework, it is imperative to prioritise patient education regarding the technology”.
