27% of UK office workers believe AI technology helps them do their job better: According to a survey by The HR Director, just over a quarter (27%) of UK office workers believe that AI helps them perform their job better, with 28% revealing that it helps them generate better ideas as well.Furthermore, the survey found that 19% of participants believe that AI has played a role in enhancing the customer experience that their workplace offers.
The HR Director, a magazine dedicated to HR, conducted the survey to explore employees’ perspectives on AI and its implications for our future jobs. Over 1,000 office workers in the UK took part in the survey and were quizzed about their concerns and spending patterns. They were also asked about the ways they incorporate AI into their work. Planning and writing are the two top ways of using AI for UK workers, found the survey, both of which had 25% of votes.
Following that, transcribing (19%), virtual assistant and research (17%), and image generation (15%) were the next most popular ways of using AI technology, with personal shopping, navigation, fraud prevention, and learning also cited.
Monthly Spending
As well as looking at how AI is being used and what peoples’ opinions on AI are, spending patterns were also looked at. The survey found that 28% of workers spend between £50-£100 per month on AI technology, while 26% spend between £20-£50. It also found that 15% spend up to £20, and 14% spend £100 or more. Not all respondents choose to pay to use AI, revealed the polling, with 17% saying they don’t spend a penny as they only use free AI tools.
Among the AI tools used by UK workers, Chat GPT emerged as the top choice, with 34% of respondents utilising it in their day-to-day work. Other popular tools included mid-journey (23%), Bard (21%), Adobe Firefly (20%), Copy.ai (19%), Canva AI (17%), and Grammarly (15%).
