Scotland are the ‘world-leaders’ of the oil industry, survey finds
March 2015 - Oil and Gas
A recent survey which examined the 260 senior executives’ opinions of Scottish energy companies and staff, has found that 71 per cent agree that Scottish employees within the oil sector are of “the most experienced and dependable” in the world.
The research, commissioned by Scottish Development International, questioned people working for firms in Europe, the Middle East, North America, Scandinavia and the Asia Pacific.
The survey found that 74 per cent of those surveyed claimed that Scotland was one of the world’s oil industry training grounds.
The survey revealed that 55 per cent of respondents believed that their relationships with Scottish companies were strengthening, and approximately 50 per cent claimed that business opportunities were arising within Scotland.
71 per cent of the respondents from the United States said that there was a notable lack of skilled workers within the industry, and 45 per cent of European respondents claimed that there was a lack of training provision for oil workers.
Scottish Development International said of the findings; "The research findings confirm the considerable influence that Scotland continues to wield as an educator and pioneer, with decades of oil and gas sector experience and a wealth of wider industry knowledge accumulated over many years.”
