According to a recent survey by Glassdoor, Google top of the list of the 50 Best Places to Work in the USA, due to its good pay, perks and opportunities.

An employee of Google suggested that another reason why the company is the best workplace is that it recruits some of the best talent in the world.

Google has climbed eight spots since last year, to reach its position at number one. The company received a 4.5 star rating in this year’s online survey and has remained in the top 14 technology companies for seven years.

The company which came second on this year’s survey was Bain & Co., last year’s winner.

Companies such as Facebook and LinkedIn this year experienced a drop in rankings from 5 and 3 to 13 and 23 respectively. Twitter did not even make the top 50 companies in the ranks.

Glassdoor’s CEO Robert Hohman explained the drops by saying “employees reported increased challenges with work-life balance, growing pains as the company hires more employees and pressure to constantly perform and move fast. When we look at why Twitter dropped off the list, we see that employees have reported losing some trust in senior leadership, which isn’t that surprising given its COO and other top executives have left the company within the past year. Additionally, employees reported internal reorganizations among product and engineering teams, along with seeing some talented colleagues leaving post-IPO.”

Google’s Silicon Valley neighbours Adobe ranked at 18 this year. Apple ranked at 22 and Nvidia at 36.

Google was also at number 1 of the UK list of top 25 workplaces.
