Hold the Front Page! DJS Research launches DJS DIGEST our internal newsletter inspired by our partners
23rd October 2023 14:04
Company news and updates, the latest partner news and gossip, review, jokes and DJS pets; just some of the content to feature in the first edition of our internal company newsletter, which was launched in October 2023.
The newsletter came about thanks to EO Voice – our employee council which was set up following our transition to employee ownership in 2021. When asked for feedback on how we can make DJS Research an even better place to work, our partners voiced a desire to have a regular newsletter to unite employees across all DJS teams, as well as across our network of office-based, hybrid and remote workers.
But what should we call it?
Our partners have had input into every detail of the newsletter via EO Voice, from its content and feel and even down to its name. Suggestions were put forward and then voted on, with some great monikers slipping through the net (Natter, E-Owning it, Take Five and DJS Discovery to name a few!) – but the clear winner was DJS Digest, with the simple tagline of ‘bringing partners together’.
The consensus was that it should be a fun and light-hearted read with a peppering of company news and a focus on teams around the business. We wanted to build on the success of our Inform Session videos which looked at a few DJS teams in more depth and shared details about their function within the wider company - and so ‘Teams in Focus’ became a full spread, following our general news and updates.
Partners also wanted some content to entertain and help them to get to know their colleagues better, so we included an ‘Out of Office’ section, which in the first edition celebrated our many partners who have recently tied the knot (congrats!), as well as new DJS babies.
For some light relief, our 'Take a Break' section offered reviews, puzzles, DJS pets (of course), as well as a marketplace where our partners can sell/share unwanted items or showcase their crafts and handiwork. Our first edition featured the delightful crochet creations of our Junior Research Executive, Jasmin Palin, which you can view (@The_Woolfather) over on Instagram. We also had space this month for a 'special feature' to share photos of our company-wide trip to Chester Zoo.
To finish, we included a calendar of the month ahead, highlighting useful dates, as well as events worth checking out close to our Stockport and Leeds offices, some of them recommended by our partners. We also offered partners the chance to win prizes by entering our caption and spot the difference competitions, with our first winners being Senior Research Executive (FaDS), Dan Thompson, and Field and Recruitment Executive, Aoife Lynch. Well done, guys!
All in all, it’s been a huge collaborative effort, pulled together by our newly-formed Digest team, which includes Digital Content Coordinator, Gaynor Jackson, Senior Animator & Multimedia Designer, Angharad Pearce (who created the design and layout of the newsletter) and Research Assistants, Maggie Shelley and Rachel Harman.
Since the launch of Digest, we’ve had some incredible feedback from partners, with many emailing to say thank you and share how much they have enjoyed the read.
Just one example of the power of EO Voice and the opportunity it gives to all of our employees to shape how we do things at DJS Research.
Roll on the next edition!
