A new poll aimed at understanding more about UK career preferences asked 1,356 men aged over 18 what their dream job is, with some interesting if impractical results.

The study, carried out by www.myvouchercodes.co.uk, found the most coveted job amongst men is to be a Top Gear presenter at 29% - although realising the dream will prove difficult since the position is filled by only three men in the country.

Male Britons have rated their second most desired career choice to be a video games tester at 25%, followed by a professional sportsman at 24%.

Myvouchercodes Chairman, Mark Pearson, commented: ‘It's quite interesting to see that Top Gear presenter has beaten professional sportsman to take first place for men’s dream job... However, when you think about the injuries and amount of training that goes into being a professional sportsman, compared with a life of driving and testing cars, it doesn't seem all that surprising!'

The other activities that made it into the top ten dream jobs for UK men are to be an actor in fourth place at 21%, a Formula 1 driver at 19%, fireman (17%), stockbroker (16%), pilot (14%), spy (12%) and inventor at 11%.
