Survey finds high demand for accountants

According to a report by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), there is a growing, worldwide demand for qualified Survey finds high demand for accountantsprofessional accountants, which is resulting in a rising number of individuals considering undertaking industry qualifications.

The report reveals that there has been a 5 per cent rise in the number of ACCA members in the last year, which brings the total figure to 178,000.

As well as this, the survey found that the number of students studying towards a qualification with the ACCA has increased by 12,000 since last year. Of the 455,000 students registered with the ACCA, 397,000 were studying for the ACCA qualification during 2014 and 2015.

Helen Brand, Chief Executive of ACCA, said of the findings:

“The demand for professional, ethical accountants is on the rise right across the world and ACCA is committed to continued delivery of a qualification that reflects this global requirement."

Brand went on to add that the ACCA qualifications had been commended by businesses and learning providers for being relevant to students when looking to enter into the accountancy profession.

"Qualification ensure students finish their studies fully equipped to enter the world of work and it is vitally important that employers from all sectors and industries are aware of the benefits associated with employing qualified professionals,"Brand added.

The survey also indicated that 89 per cent of learning providers who deliver more than once professional accountancy qualification would recommend a qualification like that of the ACCA, to prospective students trying to enter into the accounting industry.
