Almost half of British office workers recognise a boost in their wellbeing when around others in a workplace: A recent survey looking at the impact that working from home has had on the public’s wellbeing, has uncovered that nearly half the employees polled would like to return to a physical workplace to increase their mental wellbeing.
Infogrid polled 2,000 British office employees for its 2022 Hybrid Workplace Report. The survey found that around that a third of respondents believe they will benefit from the commute between their home and work. In addition, 23% said they like the daily commute because it allows them to transition between work and home life.
When asked about how working in an office would improve their mental wellbeing, 35% stated they enjoyed working in a positive, social environment. Furthermore, four in 10 were of the opinion that working in an office makes them more productive than when they are at home.
More than a quarter of respondents (28% ) said they felt happier when working from home, compared to 23% who said they preferred working in the office, and 22% who said they would prefer a hybrid model.
In addition, 38% said they would prefer to work in a hybrid scheme going forward, compared to a quarter who said they’d prefer to work in an office full-time.
The survey also asked respondents about the negative elements that come with working in an office, with three in 10 saying they would like better facilities installed to reduce the risk of virus transmission; and 31% saying they would prefer the number of people in the building to be monitored.
William Cowell de Gruchy, chief executive of Infograd, said: “A key takeaway from the pandemic must be that managing virus risk and keeping employees safe is a long-term necessity that brings with it benefits both for the health of employees as well as increasing productivity.”
