Which? survey highlights best and worst airlines in 2023: A survey by Which? has revealed the best and worse airlines in 2023, according to 8,000 respondents.
According to the survey, Wizz Air was found to be the worst airline for short haul flights, scoring just 48% in the consumer watchdog's overall customer score. Just 56% of the airline’s flights were found to have taken off on time, contributing to their low score, according to the survey. In contrast, Jet2 was rated as the best short-haul economy airline with an overall score of 80%, followed by Turkish Airlines (78%) in second place.
Only airlines which had 30 or more respondents reviewing them were included in the data, with the research based on passenger experiences over the past 2 years.
Long-haul airlines
Looking at long-haul airline findings, Emirates was rated the highest performing with a satisfaction score of 80% and 77% of its flights taking off on time, with Virgin Atlantic (78%) in second place.
The worst rated long-haul airline company was Lufthansa (57% overall score), followed closely by British Airways (59%). Both of these airlines were also rated the worst value for money, receiving two out of a possible five stars each.
Regarding last minute cancellations, Eurowings scored the worst, with 3.8% of its short-haul flights being cancelled 24 hours before takeoff. British Airways (BA) also scored poorly, with 2.3% of flights being cancelled at the last minute.
