With over four decades of industry experience between them, our lead Researchers in Transport and Infrastructure have delivered impactful and meaningful research for a wide range of clients.

They have a deep understanding of the biggest issues facing this fast changing sector, from decarbonisation and the transition towards electric vehicles, through to the expansion of integrated smart ticketing and the capacity challenges facing Britain’s railways. With experience working with clients across both the public and private sector, they fully appreciate how the impacts and challenges of these developments,  including the race to net-zero and the move towards new technologies, differ greatly by organisation.

We know that our high-quality transport and infrastructure research provides our clients with a better understanding of views amongst the general public, affected residents, and corporate stakeholders. Incorporating our valuable insights into client outputs strengthens strategic business cases, planning applications and campaign messaging. Some examples of the types of projects we have delivered include:

• Large-scale robust quantitative surveys to understand wider public awareness and attitudes towards proposed new developments;

• Hyper-local surveys of residents around large-scale infrastructure projects to understand lived experience during construction;

• Corporate reputation, conducting in-depth interviews with stakeholders;

• Comms-testing of strategic narratives and campaign collateral;

• The development of statistical segmentations to allow for more targeted marketing and communications; and

• Behavioural science research to understand how the public can be encouraged to adopt more sustainable models of travel, such as public transport and active travel.

Recent examples of our public sector work include a public consultation on bus franchising for the West Yorkshire Combined Authority - which resulted in the bus system being brought under public control in March 2024 -  as well as quantitative and qualitative research on behalf of Network Rail, and the combined authorities in Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire.

Within the private sector, we have delivered research for a broad range of clients in recent years including Porsche, BMW, Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions and Trainline.
