The Challenge

ASICS commissioned DJS Research to conduct a quantitative survey looking at the profile of those who walk as a hobby and/or wear footwear designed specifically for walking.

ASICS wished to gain a greater understanding of the walking footwear market, with a view to expanding into this market.

The Approach

DJS Research conducted over 300 face to face interviews with respondents who currently owned or were considering purchasing walking shoes.

Question areas included:

  • Where respondents walked
  • Types of footwear worn
  • Brands aware of and worn
  • Retailers aware of and used
  • Sources of information on brands and retailers
  • Future purchasing
  • Awareness of the ASICS brand
  • Likelihood of purchasing ASICS walking shoes/boots
