On Saturday 20th July, DJS adventurers will attempt to walk the Gritstone Trail, a 35-mile long path from Kidsgrove in Staffordshire to Disley on the Derbyshire/Cheshire border, in a single day. The distance is more commonly tackled over three days, so the team will once again be put to the test!
By taking on this challenge, the team hopes to raise as much money as possible for the Thomas Theyer Foundation. The charity does incredible work in supporting children and young people with additional needs or living in difficult life circumstances by giving them the opportunity to enjoy and benefit from outdoor activity breaks.
The team are currently training together by pounding the mean streets/fields of Strines. This is the latest in a number of walking challenges taken on in the past year, which will (hopefully) stand them in good stead for their latest venture....
In September last year, the dream team took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge
, walking a distance of 25 miles and involving a climb of 1,500 metres over the peaks of Ingleborough, Pen-Y-Ghent and Whernside. They achieved this in 11 hours and 28 minutes - well under their target of 12 hours. In January this year they excelled in the company-wide Get Up and Go Challenge
- clocking up a fair few miles over the course of a month.
And so to the latest challenge....
