Three is the magic number; introducing our charity challenge 2025!

What’s better than trekking up one big hill? Why scaling three of them back-to-back of course! Just a little peak into our Social Committee’s planning meeting where they came up with the idea for our 2025 charity challenge...!

This time last year we were were gearing up for our hugely successful and enjoyable (what torrential rain?!) Edale Challenge adventure and next month, Partners from across DJS Research will be lacing up their walking boots once again – this time taking to the Cheshire hills - all to raise money for our fantastic company charity, Blythe House Hospice.

Over the last 14 months we’ve raised over £5,000 for Blythe House Hospice and we’ve no intention of stopping there. With a new target in our sights – let’s see if we can smash £7k - we’ve a host of activities planned across 2025 and scaling the Cheshire Three Peaks will be the jewel in our fundraising crown. So, what exactly will our team be getting up to…the cheshire three peaks route

On Thursday 15th May our challenge team will be setting out from Tegg’s Nose Country Park in Macclesfield to scale the three highest peaks in Cheshire: Tegg’s Nose (370m), Shining Tor (559m) and Shutlingslowe (506m). They’ll cover over 26km (16 miles), tackle a total ascent of 938m and will chomp through goodness knows how many energy bars and bags of nuts along the way!

Our 2025 group is a real mix of seasoned walkers and complete novices (naming no names!) but as always, teamwork sits at the heart of our challenge; they’ll cross the finish together as one team, and head straight to the pub for a well-deserved hearty feed! They’ll be proud of their achievements but even more so of the money they’ll have raised together which will go directly into the community to support people in need – which is what this is all about.

Blythe House Hospice is an amazing organisation dedicated to providing free care and essential services to adults and children affected by life-limiting illnesses across the High Peak, Hope Valley, Derbyshire Dales and North East Derbyshire. The support they provide is absolutely invaluable, helping individuals and their families to face life changing illnesses including cancer, heart failure, COPD and neurological conditions. They also provide much needed bereavement support to adults and young people, helping families to navigate the loss of their loved ones.

We’re delighted to be supporting Blythe House Hospice again this year and we’ve built a fantastic relationship with Corporate Fundraiser Emily Passat who’ll be joining us again on our Cheshire trek.Speaking about this year’s challenge, Social Committee member Rachel Bond explained her excitement and nerves about the upcoming event:

With just 6 weeks to go, this year’s challengers are raring to go and – most importantly - we’ve already agreed the location for the post-trek celebrations! Jokes aside, I’ve realised I’ve still got a little way to go with my training - a hike around Macclesfield Forrest over the weekend was quite challenging. However, the support of the team around me, and knowing we’re raising money for such a fantastic charity as Blythe House Hospice, will give me the boost I need on the day to plough on through. Bring it on!”.

To support our Cheshire Three Peaks team, and make a donation of any amount, please visit our JustGiving page here. Please know that a contribution, of any size, will make a huge difference to Blythe House Hospice and will also serve as a massive motivator for our team as they clock up (and up!) the miles.

Here's to our 2025 challenge team for pledging to rack up the miles and pounds for a fantastic cause. We're looking forward to seeing three celebratory snaps like this one below, taken by our Edale crew on Win Hill, from a top the three peaks in Cheshire. Go Team!
