Results from survey identify dream job for marketers: A nationwide survey of 1,200 workers has created a picture of what the ideal role for marketing professionals would be, taking into consideration areas such as salary, flexibility, location and benefits.

The recruitment survey by CV Library found the most desirable place to pursue a career in marketing was London, with 47.1% saying finding work in in the capital would be their number one choice, with Bristol (29.4%) and Brighton (23.5%) coming in second and third.

Salary expectations and flexible working

When it comes to salary, a third of respondents said they would like to earn £51,000 or more, while 27.8% would be happy to achieve an annual salary of £25,500. The survey also revealed a desire to go against the traditional nine-to-five. Flexible working was high on the list of desirables for marketing professionals with two thirds (66.7%) saying a role that offered the ability to work flexibly would be most appealing to them, compared to just 22.2% content with working nine to five.

Other desirable work criteria

Questions were also asked in the survey about home working versus a traditional office setting, with seven out of ten respondents saying being able to work from home would encourage them to apply for a position. Also important factors for enticing a prospective employee were a company offering health insurance (64.7%) and paid sick leave (47.1%).
